Mid-Ohio got its start working in the natural gas business, and it has never forgotten where its roots are. For over 35 years we have been servicing the private sector gas companies in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia on a wide variety of projects as well as being a primary contractor for Columbia Gas of Ohio and Suburban Natural Gas. With numerous DOT certified employees, Mid-Ohio can handle steel or plastic in both transmission and distribution environments.

Alternative Biofuels:

• The initiative to create biofuel alternatives to supplement oil supplies became a priority over the last few years, with 62 new plants built over the last 2 years alone. 95% of these plants use natural gas to heat the cooker (reducing bacteria levels ahead of fermentation) since it is 7 times cheaper than coal. Nearly all of these plants are located in the Midwest, so we have had significant exposure to alternative energy requirements and technology. To service the POET Biorefineries in Fostoria, Oh and Marion, Oh, North Coast Gas Transmission company relied upon us to rehabilitate their lines and connect to the refineries and build a measuring station to monitor quantity.

• When an integrity issue threatened to shut down all production of a large multinational car company, Mid Ohio Pipeline was called in to repair the sole gas main keeping the 1700 car a day plant online. We were able to successfully restore the integrity of the line and keep the plant operational, all while the CEO and other executives stood watch.

• Safety. Efficiency. Professionalism. These values are very important to us, and the Columbia Gas Relight Project was a great example of that. We had the responsibility of moving the gas meters from inside 1300 Ohio homes to the outside and then purging and relighting all appliances and furnaces. This project says a lot about our company and the people that work here, since the owner chose us to enter their customer’s homes, on their behalf. It was the first time in Columbia Gas history that this was done by someone other than a Columbia employee. The project went so smoothly that they entrusted us with an additional 2,000 homes in a second project.
