Gene Yates founded MOP in 1972 and instilled the work ethic and character which the company still exhibits today. These qualities created an environment where safety and customer satisfaction are maintained without sacrificing productivity. He originally focused on the natural gas business, serving as the primary installer of both residential and distribution lines for Columbia Gas of Ohio in the North Central Region. The company experienced continual growth in the gas business which continued as Brent Yates became president in 1992.

Under the leadership of Brent Yates, the company experienced continued expansion and diversified into public work, specializing in water and sewer installation in addition to their natural gas background. He created a company equally adept at using both traditional and cutting edge technologies that provide the flexibility to easily transition between utilities.
